About the Blue Mountains

Located west of Sydney in New South Wales, the Blue Mountains are a World Heritage site and one of Australia’s most celebrated natural landscapes. Known for their steep cliffs, eucalyptus forests and waterfalls, the region features the iconic Three Sisters rock formation, around 200 million years old.

The area is also home to native wildlife, such as wallabies, kangaroos and crimson rosellas, providing BMIHMS students with a uniquely Australian backdrop for learning and exploration.

Simon Pawson
Associate Dean
Teaching for 15 years, Simon is an academic leader and researcher with two decades’ worth of experience in tourism. His areas of interest include business, marketing, strategic management, social/environmental justice and sustainable tourism. Simon has been an active researcher and social advocate in Cambodia since 2002 and is currently the Chief Academic at Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School at Torrens University Australia.

Anita Manfreda
Senior Lecturer and Researcher
With over 10 years of professional experience in luxury hospitality, Anita conducts research and teaches in the areas of customer experiences and luxury consumption, with attention to the nexus between authenticity, Her interests also include organisational behaviour and psychology, investigating competencies and well-being for the hospitality workforce. Anita is also a trainer and consultant to luxury accommodation owners and operators, leaders and front-line staff, providing expertise on how to create quality luxury experiences that are underpinned by the principles of authenticity, transformation, and sustainability.
